Values and Principles
Peak Partners for Rural Action has an agreed set of values and principles that underpin both what it does and how it works. These will continue to inform the way in which the partnership develops and operates over time, and members will strive to ensure that they are reflected in the decisions that they take and the work they carry out.
The values are:
- Equality
- Mutual respect, support and trust
- Autonomy
- Individuality
- Inclusivity
- Vibrancy in communities
- Collective action for change
- Valuing diversity
- Creativity
These are reflected in the principles that have been agreed and are reflected throughout the action plan.
The principles are:
- We believe we all have a valuable contribution to make, which draws on our individual experiences, knowledge and skills.
- We believe we are stronger and more powerful if we work collectively.
- We believe in challenging discrimination in all its forms by the ways in which we work.
- We believe in enabling individuals, groups and communities to learn, develop and organise in order to make positive change happen.
- We believe it is vitally important for the success of the partnership that the partnership remains autonomous and in control of its actions and resources.
- It is important that members of the partnership take responsibility for communicating with their own organisation about the work of the partnership.
- We recognise the autonomy of the individual partners.
- We will continually find ways for the partnership to work in creative and innovative ways.
