Core Activities
Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales are in touch with a wide range of local organisations that are looking for volunteers, and the Centre is registered to input vacancies onto the national database of volunteer opportunities.
The Volunteer Centre can help local voluntary organisations to recruit volunteers by advising on local recruitment strategies and entering details of opportunities onto the Do-It database.
Projects
Voluntary Car Scheme - takes vulnerable people to medical appointments using volunteers own cars.
Readycall - provides befriending and practical help to the isolated and disadvantaged using volunteers who undertake DIY and gardening or help take people shopping or simply call in regularly.
Management and Staff
Two Volunteering Development Officers cover either Bakewell and the northern part of the Derbyshire Dales or Ashbourne and the southern part of the Derbyshire Dales.
Funding comes from: Ashbourne Town Council, Comic Relief, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Dales & South Derbyshire Primary Care Trust, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Leader+, Staffordshire County Council, and The Big Lottery.
Premises
Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales is based at Ashbourne Business Centre, Dig Street, Ashbourne. The Volunteer Centre provides accommodation and backup services for Derbyshire Dales CVS.
